Gowan: Well they say I should approach you with caution … but let’s just let the cat out of the bag that Strange Animal Canadian legend Gowan is bouncing into town Saturday!
This Scotland-born, multi-hit wonder and ongoing Styx singer and keyboardist has a remarkable radio-rock back catalogue, including that beastly, aforementioned CanCon classic — plus Moonlight Desires, fashion-world-favourite Cosmetics, Lost Brotherhood and wicked deeper cuts like Awake the Giant, 60 Second Nightmare, Keep the Tension On and the wistful and enduring Guerilla Soldier.
Should be a fun one — slàinte mhath!

A Collection of Ashes: Kim Germshield calls her poetry book a meeting of Rupi Kaur, Nora Jones and Alanis Morissette poetry anthology that sounds a little like A Game of Thrones book.
But its name is poignant. In 2022, Germshield lost her home in a fire, a spark to write this 153-page book of verse like a phoenix bursting from ruin. Join the author as she shares her poems and prose and talks about healing and moving on.
“Swallowed hole — how foreign these feelings are to have lost it all and to feel more complete,” writes Kim Gernshield in the collection, which she’ll be reading from, then signing copies if you like.

Karagöz, Witches and Indian Fakir: Theatre Tempo presents this take on the 600-year-old traditional Turkish puppetry show, Karagöz and Hacivat.
Watch as the two friends get caught up in a feud between an engaged couple whose parents happen to be witches — uh oh! The performance is three acts: shadow puppetry, juggling and a marionette show. Ages five and up.
