Three people are facing a combined 20 charges after a highway police chase involving a semi-truck near Vermilion on Tuesday.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Vermilion RCMP received a call about a semi-truck trespassing on someone’s property, police said in a Friday news release. The truck was involved in multiple police reports near Killam, Kitscoty, and Viking, police said.

Officers first spotted the semi-truck travelling westbound in the eastbound lane on Highway 16, but the driver eventually returned to the westbound lane after police activated their emergency lights.
The Alberta RCMP emergency response team was called in to assist police, along with police dog and air services, and the Alberta RCMP crime reduction unit.
Police said the semi-truck eventually came to a stop north of Dewberry, approximately 225 kilometres east of Edmonton, and a woman got out while the truck drove off.
Police deployed a spike belt to stop the semi and two men were taken into custody.
Robert Larry Bricker, 40, of Ryley, is charged with three counts of failure to comply with order, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, disguise with intent and enter land without permission among the charges.
Daniel Jonathan Newton, 38, of Daysland, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, failure to comply with a court order, dangerous operation of a conveyance and enter land without permission.

Payton Ruth Sugg, 27 of Camrose is charged with two counts of failure to comply with court order, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a conveyance and enter land without permission.
All three have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Lloydminster court on Tuesday.
