Edmonton police are searching for witnesses and dash-cam footage after a man was mowed down by an SUV that blew a red light at Ellerslie Road and fled the scene.
The man was crossing Ellerslie at 116 Street after activating the traffic light around 11 p.m. Thursday when the driver of the SUV east on Ellerslie Road failed to stop or even slow down before striking the pedestrian, police said in a release.

EMS responded, treated and transported the pedestrian to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are seeking witness information or video footage looking to identify the driver and the dark-coloured SUV.
“We are asking for anyone with information about this hit-and-run collision to contact police at their earliest convenience,” Acting Sgt. Jefry Knull, major collision investigation section (MCIS), said in the release. “Specifically, we are also looking for any dash camera footage from motorists who may have captured the collision.”
