Man, 25, dead after motorcycle collides with minivan in south Edmonton

A 25-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle collided with a minivan late Tuesday night in south Edmonton, the third motorcyclist death on city streets this month.

At around 10:58 p.m. a 2005 Toyota Sienna, driven by a 42-year-old man was driving westbound on Connors Road and 90 Street when a 2009 Suzuki GSXR750 was riding eastbound on Connors Road at a high rate of speed, police said in a Wednesday news release.

Police said the motorcycle passed several vehicles before colliding with the minivan as it was turning left on 90 Street.

Emergency crews arrived on scene, but the motorcyclist died on scene. The driver of the minivan was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The major collision investigations section of the EPS continue to investigate the crash. Police are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has dash camera footage to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.

This is the third fatal motorcycle collision this month.

On June 13, a man died when his motorcycle was involved in a three-vehicle collision on Anthony Henday Drive, that police described the motorcycle travelling at an “extreme rate” of speed.

On June 2, at 12:35 a.m. a 35-year-old died after a speeding motorcycle slammed into a concrete barrier at Stadium Road and 111 Avenue.
