Sandy Garossino took to X to say her own mother is in palliative care and yearns to hold her great-grandchildren before she dies

Vancouver journalist Sandy Garossino is pleading with Elon Musk, who fathered three children with her daughter Grimes, to stop “withholding” the children from their family.
The Tesla magnate, the world’s richest man, has four-year-old X Æ A-Xii, also known as X, two-year-old Exa Dark Sideræl, a.k.a. Y, and Techno Mechanicus, a.k.a. Tau, who is also two years old, with the 36-year-old musician, whose real name is Claire Boucher.
Garossino took to X — formerly Twitter, and a social media platform now owned by Musk — to beg him to let the kids see their great-grandmother, revealing that the elderly relative is on her death bed.
“Dear Elon,” Garossino wrote on Saturday. “It was nice seeing you on Father’s Day. I hope you got the card that I helped X make. He was so proud of it. I’m writing here as the only way I have to reach you. As you know, my 93-year-old mother is now at end-of-life palliative care.
“She yearns to see and hold Claire’s children one last time. Especially the youngest, whom she has not yet met. She was thrilled for the kids’ planned visit to celebrate her birthday this weekend. Today. But those hopes were crushed when the trip was cancelled.
“I am alarmed to learn that the children cannot come as you are withholding them and their needed passport documents from Claire. It was even more troubling to see you and X on television at the Olympics in Paris yesterday, after your D.C. trip earlier in the week.

“Where are the other children, and with whom? They are scheduled to be with their mother. They were expected here in Canada.
“I write with a grandmother’s plea, asking you to honour your agreement, return the children, and provide the documents they need to see their great grandmother before she passes.
“Please Elon, I beg you. This is so painful for my mother, and concerning for the kids. Time is of the essence now.”
Garossino, a former lawyer, political pundit and columnist for Canada’s National Observer, is mother to the Vancouver-born musician, who met Musk in 2018 and dated him on and off before the couple split in 2021. Grimes graduated from Lord Byng secondary school before going to university in Montreal.
Grimes and Musk have been battling for custody since the breakup. The status between the parents is unclear as documents in their court fight were sealed early this year.
In 2023, Grimes herself pleaded with Musk for parental access after seeing a photo of the Space X founder with tech expert Shivon Gilis and their two kids. (Musk, who has fathered 12 kids, has made no secret of having children with several women, saying smart people should procreate as much as possible.)

“Tell Elon to let me see my son or (please) respond to my lawyer,” Grimes wrote on X in a since-deleted post. “I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart.”
Garossino ended this weekend’s plea with a philosophical nod to Musk’s wealth. “Some moments in life last forever, and we get no second chances. Family is priceless,” she wrote.
Postmedia News has reached out to Garossino for comment but has not yet heard back.
