An Edmonton man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was found with several gunshot wounds near a dam southwest of Drayton Valley.
Just before midnight on Nov. 9, Drayton Valley RCMP responded to reports of possible gunshots at the Brazeau Dam, about 50 kilometres southwest of the town.
When Mounties arrived, they found a woman with several gunshot wounds. She was taken to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton and remains in critical but stable condition, police said.

Mounties arrested a man at the scene.
Leomer Serios Valencia, 43, of Edmonton, is facing a raft of charges, including attempted murder, assault, uttering threats, and firearms offences.
He’s due in Drayton Valley court on Nov. 18.
